This is a Casual, Grant-Funded position with an anticipated assignment length through 2022 and subject to renewal thereafter.

JOB SUMMARY:

School Health Assistant under the direction of the Supervisor, Government Affairs & School Health and the district nurse provides triage, assessment and treatment of elementary school children in the health office of assigned elementary schools in the National City School District. The School Health Assistant works collaboratively with the district nurse, school staff, families and students to provide health services to promote wellness and decrease health barriers that negatively impact participation in school attendance and activities. The School Health Assistant may be required to also work collaboratively with the district's preschool nurses and staff to provide health services for preschool students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma, GED or foreign equivalent

• Two years of experience

• Graduate of MA or CNA program

• Current BLS certification issued by an AHA provider

• Pediatric experience

• Effective communication and organizational skills

• Proficient computer skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Four years of experience

• CMA or CNA

• Bilingual Experience in elementary school environment
