Quality Engineer-Direct Hire Opportunity-Vista, CA
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Primary responsibilities include providing support for new product development and established manufacturing processes for improving the performance of the overall Quality System. Specific activities for this position include: establishing quality standards, statistical methods, test methods, process control techniques, and reviewing quality system metrics to identify needed improvements. This position also supports the development of production work instructions, quality assurance specifications & inspection methods, the corrective action process, engineering change control systems & validation and verification studies aimed at ensuring product safety and manufacturing efficiency in support of ISO9000 methodologies.
Responsibilities:
Perform failure analysis of customer returned product using established problem solving tools (8D, A3, fishbone diagram)
Provide technical support to QC inspection team, develop test procedures for routine inspections
Identify training needs and perform training to inspectors and production operators
Conduct mechanical and environmental reliability tests and take ownership of the test laboratory
Assist in implementation of statistical methods such as Design of Experiments, AQL Sampling, Statistical Process Control, Gauge R&R, and Cpk studies
Support ISO 9001 Quality Management System through internal auditing and administration; support the organization’s initiative to implement and certify to ISO 14001
Identify and troubleshoot product and production problems and drive short and long term corrective actions.
Participate in Lean initiatives to help the organization achieve quality/cost/delivery targets
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Associate’s degree in a technical field with 3-5 years’ experience
A minimum 2 years’ Quality-related experience in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge of analog and microprocessor based electronic circuits with ability to read electronic schematics.
Familiarity with IPC-A-610 / IPC-A-620 / J-STD 001 standards is a plus
ISO 9001 experience in a certified facility
Must have electronic diagnostic skills
Working knowledge of laboratory test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters and signal generators.
Leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Organized, responsible, self-motivated team player with good communication skills
Accustomed to functioning in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and enjoys hands-on projects
Competency in computer applications such as MS Word, Excel & Outlook
